How to take care of your hair

  • Wash your hair regularly

If you have dry hair, wash your hair twice a week. If you have an oily scalp, wash your hair on alternate days. This will make your hair and scalp free of dirt and excess oil. Also, it is best to have cold showers since hot showers can strip off the natural oils from your scalp.

  • Use gentle shampoos

Opt for gentle shampoos that suit your hair type. The fewer chemicals are in your shampoo, the healthier your hair will be. Sulfates and parabens in shampoos can cause skin irritation over time and increase the chances of hair concerns.

  • Use conditioner

Conditioners contain ingredients that make the hair straighter and more manageable. It should only be applied on the tips and not your scalp.

  • Dry your hair naturally

Too much heat from your blow dryer can damage your hair scalp. Air drying or towel drying is the best way to do it. However, be careful with drying using a towel since harsh rubbing can damage the cuticle of your hair. Try to use soft towels or an old T-shirt and rub your hair gently.

  • Use a wide-toothed comb

Do not comb wet hair because wet hair is fragile and prone to breakage. Let your hair dry first and then use a wide-toothed comb to prevent damage to your hair.

  • Trim your hair regularly

Split ends form when the hair is damaged due to heat, pollution, stress and so on. Ensure the health of your hair by trimming it every 6-8 weeks to get rid of split ends.

  • Drink and eat healthy

Foods that are healthy for your hair include eggs, nuts, fish, berries and green leafy veggies. Also, drink at least 3 litres of water every day to ensure good hair health. Your hair is made of proteins and amino acids so it needs the right nutrition to grow well and maintain its health.

  • Wear hats

Harsh sun rays can remove the moisture from your hair which makes it dry, brittle and damaged. Using hats when you step out can protect your hair from these damages. Also, protect your hair with caps when you are in a pool since chlorinated water is bad for your hair.
